Recently, while wrongfully incarcerated I made a new discovery in regards of the restless dead: Contrary to what my companions and I believed so far it is in possible to rip them out of the grip of the beast, or as they call it, the shadow. 

In an experiment I successfully managed to heal a spectre from his condition through the means of encouraging the wraith trapped inside the spectre while simultaneously belittling the shadow.  
I am fully aware of the fact that this technique is far away from being ready for the general trial on other spectres, let alone the application on the children of Caine, but it indicates that it is in deed possible to heal a broken mind and return control over the corpus, even if it seems like the control is lost for good, therefore opening the possibility to lead even those who got lost on their path back on their way to Salvation or Galconda respectively. 
I will have to increase my knowledge in the art of conversation, in particular in regards to inspiration and demotivation and find another spectre to continue my research in this matter.  If my theory is correct it would be possible to develop a procedure to reverse the degeneration caused by the beast or shadow, which might be a vital component in our holy mission passed down from Caine himself to Cappadocius to find Abels soul and help our Dark Father find his redemption.

After returning to the scene where I successfully, in a lack of better terms, exorcised the Shadows control out of an tormented Animus I made the mistake of interrupting his prayers resulting in him getting hostile.  My best efforts to calm him down were fruitless and in his rage and confusion he managed to overcome my ally Signore Sergio and take possession over me, effectively using me as a vessel to carry out his errands.
I am not aware of what is happening while he is in control over me and at my current state of knowledge I have no means to effectively banish him out of my body.  I am considering summoning him to negotiate with him one more time, but in case of a failed negotiation I would prefer to have a backup plan to still get rid of the possession.  For this reason I acquired a number of tomes out of the family library for further research into the knowledge of our ancestors. Cappadocius chose our family for a reason! The Giovanni Family protected the secret knowledge in the Dark Art for generations. We had those powers long before we received the Dark Communion with the blood of Caine and now with this Dark Communion our powers grew, but our knowledge is still the same and I barely touched the full potential of what our family practiced for so long. There must be a ritual that can help me with my situation, even if it requires higher level of understanding than the one I currently have..,

My condition has not improved yet as this spectre proved to be quite resistent to any means of persuation. Luckily my study of some of the more obscure tomes I found contained knowledge my family once obtained from an African witch. This knowledge should allow me to track down its fetters with a good amount of proficiency ultimately leading to some extra pressure during the next negotiation. He wants to torture me with all these uncertainties when he is taking over my body? Let’s see how he enjoys it if he has something to fear! (Scribbles)

It seems my condition is worse than expected, I will have to take heat in my actions before it is to late…

It did cost me a lot of resources but I managed to identify the fetters of my torturer and secured them all in a small chest which is standing in front of me as I write these lines. Alessandro is currently outside of the city, digging a pit for me, six feet deep and far away from any civilization while I prepare my last steps before binding him into that chest. The binding will of course not last forever but it only has to last long enough to bury him with alongside all his fetters and thereby locking him into darkness and silence forever!



The exorcism was a full success: It was not easy but I successfully summoned my torturer and bound him to the box. As he realized what I was going to do he started insulting and threatening me but the binding rendered him unable to leave to chest. As I put the chest into the pit he must have understood the full consequences of his burial: Far away from anybody he could torment, alone in total silence and complete darkness he will be prisoned until Gehenna! That was when he tried a final threat towards me which I will write dowm here: „You cannot bury the truth forever! The end will be coming and you will see! You will see it all! Countless deaths to come and it is inevitable! You will see it and understand that I could have stopped this! May you be cursed Francesco Giovanni! You will come back to me and beg for forgiveness but you will never get it!“

I doubt that anything will happen, it was probably just a last desperate attempt to stop me from burying him. Finally I can return to my ordinary research. Soon I will find my way to Africa on a pilgrimage to follow the footsteps of our Dark Father. Maybe this way I can find out more about the first and second city…
