DOMAIN
Points in the Domain background are extended to include the following aspects of a Domain. These aspects detail certain features, such as the size of your Domain, the amount of security you enjoy from intruders, your proximity to commercial and cultural sites, and the secret passages and hidden features you maintain to help keep you safe. Aside from Area, not every Domain needs to contain every aspect! Consider these as options to customize your Domain and better represent it in the setting and the story.

The Domain must have a single dot of Area, as it does not matter how secure, how many hidden passageways, or how prosperous a single blade of grass is.
Area
This aspect determines the size of the Domain.
• A single small building, such as a single-family home or a social establishment – enough for a basic haven.
•• A church, a manor, or some other large structure. A location with ready (but controllable) access to the outside world.
••• A neighborhood or large estate – a section of a Sestiere with several different kinds of buildings; a marketplace.
••••A large structure including multiple outbuildings and areas for commerce and/or industry, a network of tangled alleyways and canals, an institutional building that covers a large section of a Sestiere.
••••• An entire Sestiere, an island, a village or small town outside of the city proper.
Defense
This aspect determines both an estate's physical fortifications and the precautions inhabitants take to resist assault. Each dot imposes a +1 difficulty penalty to all attempts to intrude by stealth or direct assault.
• Locks on your doors, or some other form of limited access to general populace
•• Some real fortifications; multiple layers of security.
••• Walls, locks, perhaps some sentries; some inherent security features.
•••• The manor could resist a concerted siege and is built in a strategic location.
••••• The estate is always prepared for war, and takes clever precautions against stealthy invasion.
Prosperity
Domains with this aspect are in the thick of trade in the capital of commerce. Each level of this aspect of Domain grants characters -1 difficulty on Commerce rolls made in the Domain.
• The Domain borders on the docks, a bustling marketplace, clean water sources, or some other center of economic activity and receives the benefits of wholesale prices.
•• Domain that contains a plethora of workers, including slaves, laborers and craftsmen
••• Domain that includes a local landmark, large amount of art or particularly beautiful architecture; a popular gathering place for celebrations and parties.
•••• Domain that is centered on production: art, colored textiles and fabrics, small scale shipbuilding and glass-works; a major contributor to culture and economics in the city.
••••• Domain that is rich in architecture, produces and displays famous works of art, goods of exceptional quality, or imports rare commodities. People travel from far and wide to do business and party here.
Secret Ways
Manors with this aspect possess secret rooms, hidden doors, and well-placed tapestries to help those in the know eavesdrop and stealthily move from place to place. Each dot provides a -1 difficulty on rolls to hide or evade attention for characters familiar with the manor’s features.
• The manor contains a secret door or tunnel.
•• The manor contains a few secret doors and false walls that might allow someone to squeeze through, from room to room.
••• Secret passages connect important places or provide an escape route in emergencies. A tiny, hidden room might hold emergency supplies or a Cainite’s coffin.
•••• Cunning construction conceals at least one sizeable secret room.
••••• Virtually every room has a hidden exit, and that includes multiple secret rooms inside the manner.
